Under the direction of Mr. Mitchell, we were a Grade 7 class in the 'Destinations Programme' at Harry J. Clarke in Belleville, Ontario, Canada.
The 2010-2011 school year was a most enjoyable experience, bringing together a group of learners trusting and respectful of each other and willing to extend their thinking beyond the traditional classroom environment.

On this wiki, I have chosen to re-populate student work samples in the portfolio links. They were grouped into five teams. I have also chosen to place many of the multimedia projects produced during that school year here, so as to provide a home of sorts for some amazing work. In this way, 7M at HJC will live on in the web cloud. I hope that my former students will return to this wiki regularly, and be proud of their accomplishments. I also hope that visitors to this wiki will gain some inspiration in taking ideas back to their own classrooms and allow students to express themselves as they know best - through the dizzying advances of technology.
Check out our message to the world below. A terrific production from the students.

I started a series of videos to teach certain concepts to younger students or struggling students. My students in 7M were game to do this, and did several as a result. I wanted to preserve them here. Feel free to use them in your classrooms as warm-up videos.

On occasion, I'd record student discussions during our three-part Math sessions. This group tore into the three-part problem solving with a vengeance.
The deeper I made it, the deeper they travelled. Such respect for each other, such a dynamic group of young people.

The following video is being stored here in the event the school board's blogging platform has a burp as it did last summer when all of the students' brilliant blogs were lost in their transition from Grade 7 to Grade 8. It was crushing for some. The amount of writing and multimedia lost? Can't begin to tell you.
I produced this video for the students in 7M as a farewell, and a celebration of our amazing six-plus months together. Not near enough. These young people have gone on into Grade 8 this year, blossoming and reaching for the stars, I'm sure. IF they learned anything from me, that is.
    Enjoy the memories.

Here are some samples from the past school year in 7M. While the year has passed, and our time was interrupted when I was ticketed for a Vice-Principal role in March, 2011, I want this wiki to live and breathe with the amazing work this group of students presented while under my guidance.
I offered the group a choice of music tracks and asked that they interpret the track of their choice with a video, much like they'd expect to see on YT or MMusic. That is, when MuchMusic USED to be relevant as an outlet for musical artists to present their work visually. Not the reality-laced programming we see now. Such a shame.
These are brilliant videos. Could easily be found on network television. Enjoy.
